The program is a shareware DVD converter. It can be used to convert all those DVD movies so that you can play them on your iPad or other iOS devices, or simply to save them on your hard drive for safe-keeping. The application can convert your DVDs to a handful of formats, including MPEG-4, H.264, and MOV, which seem to be Apple's favorites. Those formats will play virtually on any popular multimedia playback device. All Apple's devices have a conversion profile in this app, even the newly released iPhone 5.
You can either load a DVD disc, a folder or an IFO file. When you do that, the DVD titles that make up your movie will be listed and you can select all the ones that you want to convert and discard the rest. You can convert different titles to different formats during the same operation if you want.
This ripper comes with a nice video editor that can be used to trim and crop your videos and adjust some of their properties before you convert them.
For those users who have AMD or Nvidia GPUs (graphical processing units), the application can be configured to take advantage of that extra processing power. GPU acceleration makes quite a difference when converting video, and it is nice to see that this application includes this feature. It can be enabled from the Preferences window when the program detects a supported GPU.
